Contents page analysis 1

This rock sound contents page features a large picture of Jacoby Shaddix, the lead singer of Papa Roach, with the contents of the magazine to the left, which is placed in a darkened text box. Below Jacoby Shaddix is a quote from him in an abstract-shaped white text box that also includes the page number of the article that features the quote.

This contents page suceeds in being stylish and aesthetically pleasing while also staying informative and functional. The large picture of Jacoby Shaddix is big and bold and matches the page's colour scheme of white, black and light blue due to Shaddix's black jacket, and striped black and light blue top.

The rebelious rock and roll side of the photo is shown in Shaddix's tattoes that are clearly visible and roughly centre in the image. The rest of page remains more tame, although does have elements that implicate the Rock genre the magazine represents, like for example the titles being in all-caps.

In the top left is the simple but distinct 'Rock Sound' logo along with the issue number and date. They are all in a defining white and all-caps to stand out but remain simple enough to keep the focus on the page on the photo.

Below that we have the main list of pages. It has a title in white and a light blue background to give it a overlapping effect and be more bold, it is clearly the title. The text below remains in white, other than the page numbers which are in the same light blue as before. Each page has a short title in a large font and boldened with roughly three lines of info below. This extra information is small to not take attention away from the other elements of the image.

The bottom right of the page features an abstract-shaped white textbox with a quote from Jacoby Shaddix. The subtle curvature of the text box extends it across the bottom part of the page to use up all the available space. The quote is in a simple font, so doesn't draw attention away from the main image despite the text being so large. Above the quote is the page number of the article the quote is from, in a similar font but utilising the light blue colour from the colour scheme.
